Coinbase: New credit card allows direct payment with Bitcoin

The adaptation of cryptocurrencies has a significant impact on their dissemination and use in practice and in the global economy. Coinbase, the largest American cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that they are introducing a credit card that will allow users to easily access their assets.

This push marks a new milestone as Coinbase Visa debit card users can pay with Bitcoin , Ethereum , Litecoin and XRP without detours . The money card will first be introduced to the UK market and then gradually expanded. When Exchange customers use the card for payment in practice, their crypto-credit is immediately converted into a Fiat currency, in this case the British pound (GBP), to complete the purchase (freely translated):

Customers can deploy their card to millions of locations around the world and make payments through contactless, chip and PIN numbers, and cash withdrawals at ATMs.

This is one of the earliest debit cards that directly connects a cryptocurrency exchange to the traditional monetary system, where users have direct access to their Coinbase accounts and can issue digital currencies. To make it easier to handle, Coinbase has also launched a new Coinbase-Card App, which allows users to manage payments. This allows users to choose which crypto-wallets to use to fund the Coinbase card. It supports all assets of the platform offered for sale and purchase (freely translated):

This means they can pay for a meal with Bitcoin. The app also offers instant receipts, transaction summaries, spending categories, and more.

The card is issued by Paysafe Financial Services Limited and is fully authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority. According to a report by Forbes, Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and Litecoin will be the first assets to be supported from the beginning. Here, Coinbase renounces the first customers who sign up for it (freely translated):

To celebrate the launch of the Coinbase Card, we waive the £ 4.95 issuing fee for the first 1,000 people who have joined the waiting list.

Coinbase customers can now download the iOS or Android app and link it to their Coinbase account. After the successful setup, the card will be sent by post and can then be used immediately in practice.
